Introductions!

Hello! Good to meet you.

I’m Rob (he/him) - a consultant working across people & culture, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and strategy.

Who are you?

I started my career in HR operations at a students’ union to keep me going through a part-time Masters degree. When the degree finished, I went full-time into the world of HR and spent a few years developing in this area.

My time working as a HR generalist at a variety of levels shaped how I work, even right now. I was able to do both the transactional and the transformational. I got to see how reviewing recruitment data could show you how to improve processes and outcomes. I got to work with elected officers on implementing meaningful changes. I became excited about what HR could be beyond forms, annual leave and organising away days.

I later specialised in EDI project roles in universities. These roles gave me experience of project management and working with a whole range of stakeholders. More importantly, they allowed me to lean into an area of work I’d become excited and curious about.

More recently I’ve worked as a Consultant, both independently (hello!) and with the experts in higher education and beyond, Halpin Partnership. I've worked with a wide range of clients, and on projects from analysing employment to writing guidance for a national EDI framework. The penny dropped that I enjoy the project-based approach of consulting – so here I am!

Why are you telling me this?

Well, I’m now moving into working for myself more. So, consider this post as a quick way to get to know me. As well as the above, I can usually be found walking/feeding/bothering my senior Jack Russell at home, or making a cup of tea.

If you’re looking to bring in a Consultant, or think that might help with an issue, it helps to get an idea of who you’ll work with. I think that includes the person as well as their experience.

Ultimately, I can help you solve problems. I like to work with you to fully understand an issue, question or problem. Once that's done, we can work out what to do - moving forward in a way that works for you.

If you’re running a business or employing a small team, the day-to-day operations can take a lot of your time. So, it can be difficult to have the time to think about inclusion, long-term plans, or how to support your people in a different way.

This is where I can come in. Need some creative thinking about your current ways of working? Great. Want to understand more about EDI but don't know where to start? Fab. You name it, I can be on hand to help.

What if I want to find out more?

That would be lovely! Connect with me on LinkedIn or send me a message to chat more. It only takes one thing to make big changes, so get in touch and get started.
